Tapaday-O-100mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat moderate to severe acute pain in adults. It is used to treat many conditions such as headache, fever, period pain, toothache, and colds. It effectively alleviates pain when other treatments fail to relieve your pain.

Tapentadol is an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic.

Tapentadol is a prescription medicine that is used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Tapentadol is for around-the-clock treatment of pain that is not controlled by other medicines.

Side Effects

Side Effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to tapentadol: hives; chest pain, fast heartbeats, difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Opioid medicine can slow or stop your breathing, and death may occur. A person caring for you should give naloxone and/or seek emergency medical attention if you have slow breathing with long pauses, blue colored lips, or if you are hard to wake up.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

noisy breathing, sighing, shallow breathing, breathing that stops;

a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;

agitation, feeling hot;

severe drowsiness or dizziness, confusion, problems with speech or balance;

a seizure;

serotonin syndrome – agitation, hallucinations, fever, fast heart rate, muscle stiffness, twitching, loss of coordination, nausea, diarrhea; or

low cortisol levels – nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, worsening tiredness or weakness.

Serious breathing problems may be more likely in older adults and in those who are debilitated or have wasting syndrome or chronic breathing disorders.

Common tapentadol side effects may include:

constipation, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain;

headache, feeling tired; or

drowsiness, dizziness.

PRECAUTIONS
Sedation
Tapentadol has sedative properties (in the low back pain trials, 13% to 17% of patients who received Tapentadol experienced sedation compared to 6% of patients who received placebo) [see ADVERSE REACTIONS] and may impair the mental and/or physical abilities required for the performance of potentially hazardous tasks such as driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery. There have been post-marketing reports of motor vehicle accidents associated with the use of Tapentadol .

Since the sedative effects of Tapentadol and other CNS depressants (e.g., alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants) may be additive, appropriate caution should be exercised with patients who take more than one of these CNS depressants simultaneously.

Abuse, Dependence, And Withdrawal
Tapentadol , the active ingredient in Tapaday 200mg, has been subject to abuse, dependence, and withdrawal, misuse and criminal diversion. [see Drug Abuse And Dependence]. Abuse of Tapaday 200mg poses a risk of overdosage which may lead to death, CNS and respiratory depression, hypotension, seizures and other disorders [see OVERDOSAGE].

Post-marketing experience cases of carisoprodol abuse and dependence have been reported in patients with prolonged use and a history of drug abuse. Although most of these patients took other drugs of abuse, some patients solely abused carisoprodol. Withdrawal symptoms have been reported following abrupt cessation of Tapaday 200mg after prolonged use. Reported withdrawal symptoms included insomnia, vomiting, abdominal cramps, headache, tremors, muscle twitching, ataxia, hallucinations, and psychosis. One of carisoprodol’s metabolites, meprobamate (a controlled substance), may also cause dependence [see CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY].

To reduce the risk of Tapaday 200mg abuse assess the risk of abuse prior to prescribing. After prescribing, limit the length of treatment to three weeks for the relief of acute musculoskeletal discomfort, keep careful prescription records, monitor for signs of abuse and overdose, and educate patients and their families about abuse and on proper storage and disposal.

Seizures
There have been post-marketing reports of seizures in patients who received Tapaday 200mg. Most of these cases have occurred in the setting of multiple drug overdoses (including drugs of abuse, illegal drugs, and alcohol) [see OVERDOSAGE].

Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, Impairment Of Fertility
Carcinogenesis
Long term studies in animals have not been performed to evaluate the carcinogenic potential of carisoprodol.

Mutagenesis
Tapaday 200mg was not formally evaluated for genotoxicity. In published studies, carisoprodol was mutagenic in the in vitro mouse lymphoma cell assay in the absence of metabolizing enzymes, but was not mutagenic in the presence of metabolizing enzymes. Carisoprodol was clastogenic in the in vitro chromosomal aberration assay using Chinese hamster ovary cells with or without the presence of metabolizing enzymes. Other types of genotoxic tests resulted in negative findings. Carisoprodol was not mutagenic in the Ames reverse mutation assay using S. typhimurium strains with or without metabolizing enzymes, and was not clastogenic in an in vivo mouse micronucleus assay of circulating blood cells.

What is this medicine for Carisoprodol, This medication is a muscle relaxant, for the relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions. How does it work Carisoprodol works in the brain to ease pain How should this medicine be used Adult: Oral: 750mg 3-4 times day for up to 2-3 weeks. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, three times daily and before sleeping at night with or without food. Common side effects of this medicine Feeling lightheaded, sleepy, having blurred eyesight, or a change in thinking clearly. Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you see how this drug affects you. Feeling dizzy.
